Legal problems can occur to anyone at anytime and often without warning. Defective goods and services, disputes with neighbours, problems at work are typical of the situations. The cost of litigation can prove to be expensive, whether you win or lose. The need for access to legal advice and representation is essential.

Private Legal Cover affords protection against a variety of disputes, as outlined below.

Pursuit of:

Claims against people or organisations selling you defective goods and services for your private use

Personal injury or fatal accident claims

Civil actions for nuisance or trespass in relation to your home

Disputes relating to your contract of employment

Defence of:

Road traffic prosecutions

Claims made against you by someone to whom you have sold private goods, in respect of those goods

Accountancy fees:

In dealing with a HMRC full enquiry into your personal tax affairs

Private Legal Cover will pay up to £100,000 for professional fees for each claim covered and opponents costs if awarded against you. The policy cover is provided in the United Kingdom, but this can be extended to include Europe in respect of contract disputes and personal injury claims.

In addition to the insurance described above, there is a telephone legal advice service which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service provides for legal advice over the telephone on any personal legal problem affecting you, or your immediate family. For full details of the insurance cover, including conditions and exclusions, please request a specimen policy wording.

Private Legal Cover is only available as add-on insurance to a household policy through an insurance intermediary. For professional associations and other affinity clients, we are able to provide cover on a group basis.
